Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a wonderful ground fighting art that emphasises techniques based on leverage which allow the smaller person to handle and submit larger opponents most notably by applying joint-locks and chokeholds. Some benefits of BJJ are as follows:
Benefits of regular training in BJJ include obtaining a lower percentage of body fat, an increase in muscle tone, strength, flexibility and increased energy.
You will develop the confidence in your own ability to defend yourself in any confrontation.
The Brazilian Jiu Jitsu ranking system is a way of increasing levels of technical knowledge and practical skill within the art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. This is achieved through the award of coloured belts.
Competing in BJJ is a great way to test the skills you have learnt at training. You are not required to compete when training at Empire Martial Arts. However if you choose to, you will be able to compete at local, state, national and international competitions.
